The introduction of the Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor (CMOS) technology in the development of the flat panel detectors is one of the major factor expected to drive the growth. CMOS detectors use a single-crystal silicon process for chip processing. Monocrystalline silicon has a much higher charge mobility than ampophous silicon, so image sensors can read faster and have significantly lower electrical noice. They can integrate row scanning and column readout circuits in the sensor, so that reducing the overall cost.
Amorphus silicon, amorphous selenium and complementary metal oxide semiconductor are the different types of flat panel detectors used for x-ray imaging. Amorphous silicon (A-Si) x-ray flat panel detecotr consists a thin film transistor (TFT) and a photodiode. The two components are made of amorphous silicon material, which is formed on a large-area glass substrate via a photolithography process. 

A metal oxide (IGZO) x-ray flat panel detector consists of a photodiode array material with a two-dimensional pixelated structure. Each pixel contains a thin film transistor (TFT) made of metal oxide material and a TFT is made of amorphous silicon material. IGZO TFT has higher on-state current and lower on-resistance. The products have faster reading speed and high frame rate dynamic image aquisition.
